War Games

I’m starting an airsoft club. For those of you not lucky enough to know the pleasures of airsoft, let me enlighten you. Airsoft is like a BB gun, but it shoots plastic BBs. I was first introduced to airsoft in college. My roommate and i thought it would be fun to play paitball in the english hall. Obviously we could’nt shoot paint balls indoors, so we were faced with a conundrum. What to use instead of paint? BB’S! We went to wal-mart intending to buy red ryder bb guns. One problem with the bb guns though, the metal bb. While one pump from the BB gun may not kill you it can def break a window, and shots in the head really hurt. We asked the wal-mart sporting goods clerk if he had any alternate ideas. The words to follow from this sage of a clerk would change my life forever. “Airsoft“, he said quietly under his breath. Like Arthur in the sword in the stone, we pulled our pistol airsoft’s off the shelf and headed for the dorm.

Upon arrival my roommate and I were faced with one of life’s toughest questions. “i wounder how bad it hurts to get shot ” my roommate said while laying on his bunk staring at his new treasure. Clack, i unloaded the first round less than two feet away right into josh. His eyes watered as he winced, “it’s not that bad” and squeezed the trigger. Turns out it was that bad, at least for the two of us, whose shirts had managed to come off during the fire fight. While not intolerable, the plastic bb’s certainly left a “lasting impression” upon impact. And so the airsoft war games had begun.

I’m older, wiser, and far more capable of creating really awesome airsoft courses now. So, if your up for playing some crazy war games, and want an affordable alternative to paint-ball, get an airsoft gun and find me. A friend and i spent the better part of a 3 hour meeting yesterday discussing all possible maps and course games. We plan on playing the first, of many, games this weekend.
